The round #5 of the e-Enduro race series was raced last weekend in Varazze and probably was the most successful round of the entire 2018 season. Not only the Factory Team Specialized was present with Curtis Keen and Miranda Miller racing their career first e-bike competition but also thanks to the job done by the Varazze Outdoor staff, the top notch Specialized athletes and the over 100 other riders had the chance to ride on five incredibly beautiful and challenging special stages totaling over 35 minutes of timed time. This is an astonishing figure, considering the average timed time of the national and international similar Enduro races.
This data certifies the experience gained by the e-Enduro organizer staff led by Race Events in over two years of competition that created a new format capable of giving fun to the amateur riders and challenges to the professional ones. At the end of the race, the Specialized Factory Team athletes declared:
In addition, Specialized gave to some journalists the chance to test the new 2019 Turbo Levo e-bike during racing in Varazze. Simone Lanciotti (MtbCult.it), Cristiano Guarco (4Mtbike), Mirko Isetta (EMTBmag) e Davide Finetto (365Mountainbike) were among them.
Simone Lanciotti (MtbCult.it) declared: “Before this experience, I didn’t think a race of this kind is so much fun! Everyone approaching an e-bike Enduro race must have a good technical experience because all the special stages are not easy to ride in combination with a good fit condition due to partial help provided by the electrical assistance. In any case, having an electric motor helps to remain lucid during racing permitting to enjoy to the fullest the race course. Only trying e-Enduro racing anyone can fully understand the true spirit of this race category and how different it is from traditional Enduro muscular only racing.”
Davide Finetto (365Mountainbike) commented: “I felt in the zone and I was fast but unfortunately two flats forced me to retire. Anyway, I do think the direction chosen by Franco Monchiero is the right one and the format is absolutely fun and not to be taken lightly regarding the preparation needed.”
Cristiano Guarco (4Mtbike) also said: “I really had fun and only participating in the race I could fully understand why this race series has such a high number of followers. Beautiful trails to ride on and the new Turbo Levo is a fantastic bike. I can only add the fun starts right after the enrollment to an e-Enduro race!”
Mirko Isetta (EMTBmag) declared: “Today I decided to be just one of the trailblazers to test at the best the new 2019 Specialized Turbo Levo that revealed itself as a balanced bike and a true candidate to become the reference bike of the category. As my fellow colleagues anticipated, I can confirm the high fun level of the series, adding only to be well prepared technically and physically for each race.”
Like the 2017 edition of the Varazze round, the expo area was set on the Surf Pier of the Varazze Beach giving to all the exhibitors a beautiful view on the seaside. The series title sponsor Specialized was present with its tents, presenting to the public the brand new 2019 Turbo Levo e-bike. Also Brose showed the new motor Smag while providing to everyone its multiple recharging station. Vittoria presented its Enduro e-bike tires products line up. Mr. Wolf continued the road show of its revolutionary product SmartMousse. Atala showcased its Enduro e-bike line up and a new road e-bike. Haibike and Braking presented their products while Billet HT made available for testing a new ABS prototype system for muscular and electric bikes to be paired to all the existing braking systems.
